As the demand for inner-city childcare increases, so does the need to find and design appropriate spaces. Importantly, childcare operators must balance cost viability by maximising child placement potential with the parent expectation for quality childcare.

Co-lab Architecture's team of architects have worked closely with the childcare provider to adhere to the complex government regulations surrounding childcare, whilst also maintaining the heritage value of the building and most importantly, creating a nurturing enjoyable space for the children and their carers.

Multiple design challenges were overcome due to the site restrictions, for instance, we included multiple exit points, disability access, adequate sunlight into all child rooms, the correct meterage of indoor/outdoor space in a city-setting and maintained established trees.
