The recently completed Doncaster Childcare Centre is constructed over three-storeys, providing an abundance of natural light to childcare rooms and outdoor play areas while utilising cantilevered balconies to provide generous outdoor spaces.
The balcony cantilevers and mature native trees provide shading to outdoor spaces on the lower floors while adjustable shading pergolas protect the rooftop areas. Double doors and double hung windows bridging all playrooms and outdoor spaces provide provisions for cross ventilation. The centre underwent two major design overhauls in order to meet new requirements set by the Department of Education and Training (DET). We assisted in the establishment of these regulations in conjunction with the DET as part of the Early Childhood Design Guide.
